This firmware update prevents this possibility. NOTE: Before you update your camera`s firmware, please do the following: Check your current firmware version, to verify that your camera can be updated. To do this, hold down your camera`s MENU button while turning the camera on. Your camera`s LCD screen will display the current version of the firmware. Make sure the current version is 1.00. Have a Pentax AC adapter (optional equipment) ready for use during the update, or make sure your batteries are fresh and have a full charge. NOTE: The update process will take approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute. If your camera runs out of power during the update process, the camera will become inoperable and will require repair. This repair will not be covered under warranty. You can update your camera by using your camera`s internal memory, or by using an SD card. In either case, make sure your memory is fully erased by using the FORMAT command in the camera`s SET-UP menu. - Turn your camera on, then press the MENU button. - Press your zoom button to access your `full` menus, if not already active. - Use your 4-way controller to move over to your far right menu, which is the SET-UP menu (you should be able to press your right arrow twice to get to SET-UP). - Use your 4-way controller to move down to the FORMAT option (press the down arrow once). - Engage your FORMAT option by pressing the right arrow on your 4-way controller. - Now, you will have the option to CANCEL or FORMAT, with CANCEL being the default option. Use your 4-way controller to select FORMAT (press the up arrow once). - Press your OK button to complete the format. | |
