In case the scanner does not appear in the Device Manager as `UMAX 1394`, double cklick its entry and update the driver referring to Disk2 folder in the directory where you expanded the VistaScan driver (or Umax Driver CD) as driver source. Ignore the warning about the missing cetrificate for WindowsXP and continue the installation. As VistaScan is Windows 2000 compatible, it also works properly unter WindowsXP. VistaScan 376f: Segment 1 (6 MB), Segment 2 (5.54 MB) Optional: to install MagicMatch calibration profiles copy the folders (MONITOR, PRINTER, SCANNER) from the folder PROFILES of the original driver CD into the folder PROFILES of the downloaded and expanded current driver on your hard disk und select the appropriate components in the setup dialog. The driver is also available on the Umax Windows service CD. Alternatively, if after the installation an exclamation mark still appears next to the scanner in the device manager, go to the folder Windows\Inf and delete all Oem*.inf files (* stands for a number) containing the string `UMAX` , `Astra 6400` or `Astra 6500`. After that open the device manager again and reinstall the driver. |

Installing the driver for a USB scanner under Windows 2000 please use the Updater VS355UP.EXE (913 KB). Vistascan 3.55 and newer do not automatically install the driver for the Umax ISA SCSI controller UDS-IS11 SCSI-ISA ds_is.zip! 4. To use the Umax USD-IS11 ISA SCSI controller under Windows ME you have to install the mini-port driver with the help of the Hardware-Assistant. In the hardware type list select `SCSI-Controller` and refer the Assistant to the folder Disk1 of the driver directory. 5. The Installation of VistaScan under Windows 2000 does not directly support the Umax ISA-SCSI UDS-IS11 controller. If you use this controller, please install the driver DTC3X8X.SYS At the prompt for the address setting select 340h. Please consider that the ISA controller uses as default the address 340h, which cannnot be changed. Very often this address is used by network adapters and other ISA cards which can lead to hardware conflicts. Should this be the case, chande the address of the other adapter. |
